PAGING SYSTEM FOR PRODUCTION ROBOTS AND MACHINES

IS AN INVALUABLE HELP

PAGING SYSTEM FOR PRODUCTION ROBOTS AND MACHINES

ROBOTS

A paging system at a production machine, robot machine or production cell which can report errors or call for assistance if a machine have production stop  or other form of production downtime provides huge time savings.

But it is not just a machine stop message that can be important. It is also possible that the operator standing by the machine or production cell has run out of items to be used in production, and instead of having to run out to find someone who can drive it to the machine, he can directly from the machine give notice to, stock, spare parts stock or e.g. a truck driver to come and help.

It may also be that the machine or robot system has a machine stop or needs manual operation or needs a repairer or other service person to be called quickly. These people who can be called in have a pager that is quickly notified that they are coming to the machine and no time is wasted.

A paging system for production sites is efficient and has its own separate network and needs not to connect to the internet or anything else. There is no delay in signal, as there can be via SMS, and once the system is installed, it works quickly and efficiently every time.

The paging system is simply placed with a call button from which to call, and the person to be sought has a beeper / buzzer in the form of either a pager placed in the belt or pocket, or a watch that can be worn on the arm. Alternatively, a message can be sent to a digital display that can be hung in a central location. When the button is pressed, a message is immediately sent to the pager or the display.

Do you want a more advanced version, where you can see statistics, which possible can be used to assess machine downtime on each machine or plant, this is possible via a software such as the data logger calls. This system must be connected to the company’s own network.

The pagers (beepers, buzzers) are available in several versions, from the simple one that just vibrates or beeps and flashes (you can choose which signals you want) to the slightly more advanced version, where you can send a digital message to the pager, which can then be seen on a display in the pager. These messages can be predefined, or you can write individual messages.

ROBOTS

No matter which solution you choose, there are plenty of time savings to be achieved with a paging system tailored to the needs and workflow of the individual factory.

Discover Systems has for over 20 years been involved in reducing waiting time in many industries, and many companies in these times want to avoid wasting time and resources in the event of production stoppages, says director Peder Jørgensen.

We have helped many industries ranging from restaurants, and hotels, to hospitals or logistics places where as example trucks have to wait to drive to a ramp, and the principles of production sites are often the same; namely to avoid waiting time and wasted time. A paging system provides efficiency that helps on the bottom line, but also saves frustrations for employees and can in many cases mean increased safety at the factory, or in loading and unloading areas as people then do not have to run in and out between machines and vehicles.

MACHINES

Paging systems have many options in production or service areas.

Although there are many standard solutions for paging systems, it may also be that the situation requires a special solution, and we have a several of those. For example. we have a large German manufacturer of car parts, which uses our paging system to more efficiently find pallets in a very large production area.

We have a lift manufacturer who use a paging system so that the mechanics can call for help or spare parts without having to run to the warehouse. We have a concrete element factory that can call trucks with pagers directly to loading sites in a large outdoor area, and another manufacturer of car parts in Sweden who can also call the production manager, foreman or technician directly from the machine and production cell with a call button, so they do not have to leave it. These are just a few examples and each factory or production site has its own and special needs that we can cover effectively with a single paging system.

Another of our customers is a major Swedish manufacturer of office furniture, where you can call a technician from the individual production cell if there is a fault in the machine, or if there is a lack of materials for the production, or if there is a defect in the material. At the production site, there is a button with 10 different options for calls, which are sent to different pagers. The whole thing is data logged, so they can learn if there are things that can be improved in production.

One of our customers makes spare parts for the automotive industry and must take random samples of the products for quality control. This is done by means of a call on the machine, which then calls a pager when it is time for a person from the test department to pick up a sample.

We have a grocery supplier who has a webshop where people order their goods. Here the system is used to call when packing the individual orders and if there is a shortage of a products. This is done with a button that calls a pager. At the same time, the same company has a system where when a truck arrives at the gate, the driver presses a button, and a pager tells that there is a truck entering the area. Also the same company has a different system, where when the staff leaves the company and there is a lamp that lights up, then they must check. The employee then calls with a button so that the person who is to check him / her is called in.

Another scenario is with a large wind turbine manufacturer, where they can call a “delivery train” from the individual work cells when the employee, for example is missing more screws or other things. And the small “train” that delivers parts can then be sent directly to the production cell without the employee having to leave work or space.

Shortly said; a paging system for production and logistics locations increases productivity and saves time and money.
